Afke Zonderland is the founder of Okanagan Rawsome—a certified Raw Chef, food educator, and lifelong lover of real food.
Fifteen years ago, Afke saw a gap: fresh local produce needed a longer life, people needed truly nutrient-dense food, and our farms deserved support through regenerative agriculture. Her solution? Start local and keep it real.
Inspired by the beautiful Okanagan Valley, Afke blended locally grown crops with sprouted seeds (for extra nutrition), flax (hello Omega-3s!), and spices. Instead of baking, everything is dehydrated low and slow—locking in nutrients and flavour, no preservatives needed. Voilà: Awesome Rawsome Crisps!
After plenty of trial (and tasty error), Afke turned farm-fresh food into fast food—without compromising ingredients, flavour, or nutrition. The result? Crisps that are delicious, gluten-free, vegan, raw, and sprouted. Bonus indeed.
Afke hosts workshops, speaks at community events with the Shuswap Food Action Group, and writes for local papers—sharing her passion for health, wellness, and protecting our local food systems.
